Makai Narangi Halwa

  • 1 tbsp ghee 
  • 1 cup grated corn  
  • Saffron a pinch 
  • 50 ml orange juice  
  • 2 tbsp dry nuts 
  • (chopped pistachio, cashew nuts and almonds)
  • ½ cup grated coconut  
  • ½ tsp cardamom powder  
  • 3 tbsp sugar 
To caramelize 
  • 1 orange 
  • 2 tbsp sugar 
  • For garnish 
  • Silver leaf as required 
  • 1 sprig mint 


  • Heat ghee in a pan and add grated corn, saffron, orange juice, dry nuts, grated coconut, cardamom powder, sugar and mix well. 
  • Chop orange into wedges. 
  • On another pan keep sugar for melting and as the sugar melts add orange wedges and let it caramelize. 
  • On a plate place a ring mould. Stuff in the prepared halwa and decorate with the silver leaf. Serve with the caramelized orange and garnish with a mint sprig.
